Project: Interactive multimedia courseware for Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Client: Ministry of Education, Malaysia Project description: In 2002, the Government instituted a policy to change the medium of instruction in the teaching of mathematics and sciences from Bahasa Malaysia to English.
The change is a challenge for teachers. Most, if not all, of them have been trained to teach mathematics and sciences in Bahasa Malaysia. The Ministry immediately started several projects to prepare the teachers and to support them and their teaching of the subjects in English.
One of the key projects is the provision of computer notebooks, LCD projectors and multimedia-rich courseware to English, Mathematics and Science teachers for their use in the classroom.
Several vendors were commissioned by the Ministry of Education to produce the interactive multimedia courseware. The FSBM Group was selected to design and develop the courseware for Physics, Chemistry and Biology for use in Lower 6, Upper 6 and Matriculation. While the multimedia materials were initially developed to be delivered from CD-ROM, it was designed to be web-ready so that it can be delivered from the Internet in the future.
A total of 1,119 interactive multimedia lessons were produced by the FSBM Group. Technology employed: Macromedia Flash MX Macromedia Dreamweaver MX RELOAD Editor Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) SCORM compliance
